Kelley Indianapolis student team takes fifth at case competition

DETROIT -- Congratulations are in order for the Kelley students who took fifth place in this year's international supply chain case competition in Detroit.

The General Motors/ Wayne State University Supply Chain Case Competition is held annually, giving student teams the chance to showcase their skills in front of leading auto companies, and also build their professional network.

This year's team members from the Kelley School at IUPUI were Martina Fialova, Emily Mosier, Brandon Edwards and Kent Craig. The team is led by faculty members Mark Ippolito, senior lecturer in operations management, and Peggy Daniels Lee, clinical assistant professor of operations and supply chain management and faculty chair for the Kelley School Undergraduate Program.

This year's competition included teams from across the country and the world, including teams from Mexico, Poland, Brazil, China and Taiwan.

"Competing on behalf of Kelley Indianapolis was an incredible opportunity to apply what I've learned, network with GM professionals, and interview for full-time and intern positions," said Emily Mosier, BS'18. Mosier is majoring in supply chain, marketing, and international studies. "Case competitions have challenged me to articulate business principles in real-world situations, and they have showed me the quality of the Kelley program compared to other schools. Kelley will take you places, and case competitions are one of those places!"

The student team from the Kelley School at IUPUI advanced to the finals for the first time, where they competed against North Dakota, Northern Iowa, Western Michigan, and Fundação Getulio Vargas of Brazil. The team from Brazil ended up winning this year's competition.

Congratulations again on a job well-done to our Kelley supply chain students!
