As the undergraduate admissions specialist who reviews all the applications, grade changes, petitions, transfer credit evaluations and other records for the program, Laura Watson can be considered the “gatekeeper” at Kelley. While she’s created her own place here, Kelley is sort of a “family” business.
Q: It must require a lot of organization to do admissions. Are you a naturally organized person?
Laura: It’s not a part of my personality at home, but I am very organized here at Kelley. I think it has more to do with having a photographic memory that helps me keep track of everything. I’ve always remembered situations and names well, and since I don’t see a lot of the students in person, it helps to remember them all by name.
Q: What's the best part about your job?
Laura: I’m helping students reach their goals. Even though sometimes I have to be the bearer of bad news about admissions and the policies I must enforce, it’s nice to know I’m helping these students reach the goals they want to achieve for their future.
