Becky Schlomann

Program Assistant, Evening MBA Program

An Illinois native, Becky’s career path in education led her to the Kelley School in November 2017. She is passionate about theatre and her historic neighborhood, Irvington. Also, Becky loves all food, so don’t be afraid to invite her to lunch.

Q: How long have you worked at Kelley?

Becky: 8 months – since November 2017

Q: Where is your hometown?

Becky: Champaign, IL

Q: What is the best part of your job?

Becky: I love working on a college campus. There’s so much going on. It’s full of energy and hope.

Q: What is your career and education background?

Becky: BA, Knox College; MFA, The University of Texas at Austin. I’ve always worked in education, but in many sectors: K-12, nonprofit, training, and higher ed.

Q: What was your first job?

Becky: Piercing ears at the mall jewelry store

Q: What is your favorite food?

Becky: I just love food. (The Evening MBA team can confirm that I’m usually thinking about my next meal.)

Q: A surprising fact about you?

Becky: I can whistle through my nose.

Q: How do you contribute to the Kelley mission?

Becky: I assist with admissions, communications, and event planning for the Evening MBA program. I do a lot of talking with working adults who are trying to decide whether they want to go back to school, and whether ours is the right program for them.

Q: How do you spend your time outside of Kelley?

Becky: I’m a theatre geek by training and by passion, so I’m often acting in, directing, or watching a show. I’m also involved in my neighborhood, beautiful historic Irvington…which I will talk about endlessly, if you ask.

Q: What advice do you have for students?

Becky: You don’t have to choose between the things you love to do. The best job and the best life come from embracing all your many facets.
