Janelle Cissell works as the Administrative Recorder, Evening MBA Program. She's celebrating her second year with Kelley School of Business at IUPUI on July 31st! But she has over 10 years experience here on the IUPUI campus.
Get to know Janelle by reading our Q&A with her:
Janelle: Indianapolis, Indiana
Janelle: I’ve worked at IUPUI for almost 11 years. I began my time here with the Office of Student Financial Services. I started with Kelley as a Program Assistant with the Evening MBA program. I had worked at the IU School of Optometry for a very short time and wanted to work with students again. While working as a Program Assistant, I started cross training with Julie Moore, the previous Recorder. It was the right transition at the right time.
Janelle: I enjoy student services and helping our students be successful in the program.
Janelle: I’m currently a student here at IUPUI: Women’s and African American Studies.
Janelle: I was a cashier at Kroger at 15. I was let go after my probationary period for not being “grocery store material."
Janelle: I assist our admissions team in onboarding new students. My main goals are student retention, student grades, class scheduling, and certifying degrees at graduation time. I assist the program with reporting and harvesting data for recruiting and programing efforts.
Janelle: My favorite Kelley moment is onboarding new students into our program. They have goals and visions. Starting the MBA program is just one step in actualizing their new realities. I also love being on the Black Faculty & Staff Council eBoard for the university.
Janelle: Ethiopian – I love injera and lentils.
Janelle: Turtle – symbol of good luck and longevity. I also like to hide in my shell at times.
