Kelley Indianapolis remembers beloved Career Services associate director

The Kelley Indianapolis family mourns the loss of a beloved member of our staff. Angie Meyer will be greatly missed by the entire Kelley family—more than words can express. She passed away January 1 after a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Angie was a coworker and a friend, a mother, wife, sister, daughter—and so much more. She was never without a smile on her face, instilling a sense of calm and positivity in anyone who met her.

For the past twelve years, Angie served as the associate director at the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis Career Services Office. Before that, she served as a recruiter for business management personnel. She was passionate about helping students with career planning and advice and, also, passionate about helping employers and the Kelley School.

“Angie was a career services hero. In her role as liaison with our corporate recruiters, she enabled thousands of students to find jobs and launch their careers in Indianapolis and beyond," said Phil Powell, associate dean of academic programs.

Even while battling cancer, Angie continued to work at the Kelley School, increasing employer participation in career fairs, job postings and on-campus interviewing.

“Angie was a model of integrity and dedication to her work and the many causes she supported. She was genuine and approachable. She never lost sight of what matters in life. She was not just my co-worker but my friend, and I will miss her,” said Sherry Zike, assistant director of Kelley Indianapolis Career Services.

“To say that she will be missed is a significant understatement. Our sincere condolences and prayers for Angie’s family," said Daniels Lee, faculty chair for the Undergraduate Program at Kelley Indianapolis.

Angie received the Kelley Indianapolis Employee Recognition Award earlier this school year. Director of Career Services Josh Killey says Angie was instrumental in employer development and employer relations campaigns, which led to new employer partners and strengthened relationships.

“It’s difficult to truly begin to describe what Angie meant to our team as both a colleague and as a person,” said Killey. “Angie was an exemplary Kelley employee, team-oriented, always willing to assist in any way possible and focused on continuous improvement for the benefit of our employers and our students. She put the needs of others first and had a positive impact on all who knew her."
