She has always loved helping people, and certainly has the patience and creativity needed to deal with a variety of tasks and individuals. She served as a preschool teacher for 13 years before coming to IUPUI. She also enjoys interior design, and holds an associate’s degree in architectural technology.
In her role, Missy supports approximately 30 full-time and associate faculty members with a wide variety of activities, making sure that courses go smoothly. She says the best part of working for Kelley is interacting with students, answering their questions and serving as a liaison between them and faculty when needed. She also enjoys the company of her three suite-mates and getting to know the faculty. Her favorite project to work on is Food Corp, a weekend intensive study for the Evening MBA Program, because of the course’s uniqueness.
Outside of work, Missy loves to travel. Her and her family have visited 13 national parks, and she says though it’s hard to choose, her favorite was Yellowstone Park. She also enjoys reading for fun, and hanging out in her hometown of Speedway.
Missy is secretly a ticket winning expert. She has won tickets to see many concerts including Head and Heart, Justin Timberlake, Lumineers, and many more. When asked for her secret, she said she’s simply in the “right place at the right time.” Her and her husband enjoy going to shows, including seeing Pearl Jam in Chicago, and watching one of her favorite artists – Pink. Combining her love of travel, she would love to eventually purchase an RV, and spend her time traveling across the country to visit venues such as the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington and the Red Rock Amphitheatre in Denver. Outside the United States, Missy would like to travel to Australia and New Zealand.
Missy and her husband stay busy with their four children and two dogs. Recently, the family also hosted two students from Speedway's sister city in Japan. Missy loved taking the students around Indianapolis, especially the Indy Zoo. At the zoo, Missy was able to introduce the students to her favorite animal – the giraffe. She loves their beauty and gentleness, and was a fan of watching internet sensation April the Giraffe via live stream.
Missy enjoys life, and encourages others to stay true to their passions and pursue what they love.
